Copyright and Performers’ Rights in the Czech Republic

We provide legal advice to Czech and international authors, performers, producers, publishers, media companies, and other participants in the creative industries. A significant part of our practice consists of protecting copyright and performers’ rights in the Czech Republic and in cross-border matters involving the exploitation and enforcement of intellectual property rights.

We assist clients in protecting and enforcing their copyright and related rights. We represent them in out-of-court negotiations as well as court proceedings involving unauthorised use of copyrighted works, breaches of licence agreements, and other infringements of intellectual property rights.

We prepare and review licence agreements, work-for-hire agreements, copyright exploitation agreements, performer agreements, and other contractual documentation relating to the creation, use, and commercialisation of intellectual property. We help our clients structure contractual relationships in a manner that adequately protects their rights while allowing for their effective commercial use.

We have extensive experience with legal issues relating to audiovisual productions, software, digital content, employee-created works, collective works, and commissioned works. We also provide legal support in connection with the commercial exploitation of copyrighted works in the Czech Republic and internationally.

We represent clients in matters relating to collective rights management and dealings with collective management organisations. We assist with claims for royalties, licence fees, equitable remuneration, and other payments arising from copyright and performers’ rights.
